the new layout of /kata:)

a soft spot in bandung

last days of 2001 in bandung turn out to be one of best days of the year. well accept the regular traffic jam trip from bogor to bandung. regularly i can reach bandung within 3 hours time but considering that most people would like to spend their new year in bandung, it reaches 6-7 hours trip. though we manage to go on an alternative road, which view was unfamiliar yet beautiful. the traffic started even in jalan raya tajur, but close to tapos we took the right turn and a rocky up and down trip. the road end near taman safari which took us straight to puncak. the road in puncak was pretty clear, though the traffic jam started again in cipanas. we end up being throw to taman bunga nusantara shortcut then end up just before cianjur. ate at ikan bakar cianjur (yummyy:P~~~), and reaches bandung around 5 pm.

check in and had a rest for a while. went to the new bandung supermal which is damn HUGE, i never seen a mall this big. i heard it was one of the biggest in southeast asia and i guess i prove it with my own eyes. bandung atmosphere was still the same though:) had dinner in tamani cafe (dago street). tamani had a really huge portion, i ate an calamari and that was in the appetizer list. i didn't finish it all, i was quite amazed when i saw my friend main course dinner. it was a nice cozy place with a modest price foods, but hell the portion is crazy. took a drive around bandung at nite, slept around 1 am.

woke up in the morning at 6 am and took a mornig walk:) nice fresh air:) not many cars yet, went inside bandung cathedral to accompany my friend to pray. the architecture of the church was rather different then most cathedral. the roof was mostly woodbase, it's quite an amazing view:)

back to the hotel and had a healthy breakfast:) in the afternoon, my friend had to visit his grandfather cemetery so i accompany him. i also need to see my dad friend (who apparently my parents bestmen in their wed). uncle eddy seems to be a little lost and on grief after the lost of his wife 2 months ago. i didn't manage to see aunty paula again...it's quite saddening. uncle eddy had a light stroke not long ago, i hope he is getting well. it's clear that it's not really his body that was damage it's more of a sad heart...

bought pisang molen that alia ask me to buy in kartika sari. went to b n c near sus merdeka, got my brother a nice red sweater, cheap as well:) bandung has been known with lots of factory outlets. my friend said that most of are still a rip off. only a few that offer good quality goods with a very low prices. places like 347, b n c and some few others, for shoes of course edward fohrer. edward fohrer is pretty interesting, it's an indonesian local brand but i guess they only open in bandung. they can make shoes of your own design and trust me you would not believe the price:)

too bad i didn't had the time to go to palasari to see new books and secondhand books. maybe some other time:) i had a very limited time and budget.

i had dinner in kampung daun (near lembang), the concept of the place was very creative and man, i love it a lot.
